University of Hradec Kralove
University of Hradec Králové (UHK) is one of the youngest universities in the Czech Republic. However, being young doesn’t represent any disadvantage for the university. The UHK develops and grows rapidly. Nowadays, there are more than 9000 students in total.
There are four faculties and one academic institute at UHK. Individual UHK faculties and departments are spread around the city, although a new common campus is being built nowadays.
Faculty of Education (PdF)
The Faculty of Education is the oldest faculty of the University of Hradec Králové. This faculty laid the foundations for all other faculties of the university and the University of Hradec Králové itself. After the secession of non-teaching study disciplines and the establishment of other faculties, the main focus of the faculty returned back to the training of future teachers and qualified pedagogical workers.
Faculty of Informatics and Management (FIM)
Advanced and dynamic faculty attracts many students by the practical orientation of its courses, modern approach to education using the latest technologies and cooperation with leading private companies and institutions. Apart from informatics, there are also management courses taught here.
Faculty of Arts (FF)
The Faculty of Arts offers BA, MA and Ph.D. study programs in full-time and, in several study disciplines, a part-time form of study. It provides education in the fields of history, archaeology, archival science, political science (with specialization in the regions of Africa and Latin America in MA and Ph.D. study programs), sociology, philosophy and several interdisciplinary study fields (focused on informatics and multimedia in archival science and archaeology).
Faculty of Science
The Faculty of Science is the youngest faculty of the University of Hradec Králové. Apart from BA and MA study programmes focused on natural sciences, the faculty also provides a major part of the instruction of courses dealing with natural sciences at the Faculty of Education and the Faculty of Arts: at the Faculty of Education, it concerns the instruction in biology, physics, chemistry, informatics, mathematics and didactics of these specializations in BA, MA, and Ph.D. study programmes.
Institute of Social Work
With the establishment of the Institute of Social Work in January 2011, the University of Hradec Králové has completed a long-prepared mission of a tertiary education institution consisting of five components: four faculties and one academic institute. Originating in the former Department of Social Work and Social Politics (Faculty of Education), The Institute of Social Work provides instruction in BA and MA study programs in the field of social politics and social work. The courses are focused on a variety of both theoretical and practical aspects of social work and its many specializations. The instruction of social-work related subjects is provided for other faculties of the university too.
Charles University was founded in 1348, making it one of the oldest universities in the world. Yet it is also renowned as a modern, dynamic, cosmopolitan and prestigious institution of higher education. It is the largest and most renowned Czech university and is also the best-rated Czech university according to international rankings. There are currently 17 faculties at the University (14 in Prague, 2 in Hradec Králové and 1 in Plzeň), plus 3 institutes, 6 other centers of teaching, research, development and other creative activities, a center providing information services, 5 facilities serving the whole University
Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Kralove
The Faculty of Pharmacy, with its seat in the town of Hradec Králové, was established by a government decree in 1969. This Faculty of Pharmacy has continued in the old and long-time tradition of the education of pharmacy at Charles University. The educational and research activities of the Faculty of Pharmacy are conducted at various Departments.
The courses are focused on the research, production, control, supply, and dispensing of medicines and drugs. It also deals with information about drugs and pharmaceutical functions, organizations, with the management of pharmaceutical functions within the health service system (social pharmacy), and with the historical development of the branch.
Faculty of Medicine
The Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Kralove is the oldest institution of higher education in East Bohemia. It was established as the first of the new medical faculties immediately after the end of World War II (October 13, 1945) and became a part of Charles University, the oldest university in Central Europe and north of the Alps.
Medical degree study programs in General Medicine (6 years) and Dentistry (5 years) are arranged along the lines of theoretical, pre-clinical and clinical studies in theoretical and pre-clinical departments, clinical departments and institutes. The net annual tuition fees for English programs were fixed by the Faculty at a rate of 310,000.- CZK for General Medicine program and 340,000.- CZK for Dentistry program
